Click on the appropriate hypertext link to see whether the CD you need is on line, and whether the proper CD seems to be mounted. Occasionally NFS errors cause the contents to "slip" by one slot, e.g. disk190 may be mounted in the place of disk191.
If the correct files seem to be mounted but you encountered an I/O error for a particular file, see if you can download the entire file via FTP. If not, the disk may need to be remounted.
Check the latest status message to see whether the cause of the problem is known. If not, please report the problem to lookup@census.gov.
Other CD's may be affected also. You can check the current status of all CD's in a status report which is updated 3 times daily.
Temporary system problems are usually caused by system overload. As LOOKUP usage continues to increase, this problem is becoming more severe. The permanent cure is for you to locally install the data you use most frequently, and/or to install your own LOOKUP server.
