4.2 -
In LOOKUP, data are not available at all the geographic levels which
are available on the CD-ROM.
(lookup@census.gov)
This is a limitation of DBUTIL (and LOOKUP, which depends on DBUTIL).
Use NFS (alone or with dBase or GO or Extract or the PC menu sytem);
or use anonymous FTP.
4.3 -
Data in STF3C-2 are unavailable.
(lookup@census.gov)
This is a limitation of LOOKUP.
Use DBUTIL (alone or with Unix shell scripts);
or use NFS (alone or with dBase or GO or Extract or the PC menu sytem);
or use anonymous FTP.
4.4 -
Geographic data (centroids, areas, and codes) are unavailable.
(lookup@census.gov)
This is a limitation of LOOKUP.
Use DBUTIL (alone or with Unix shell scripts);
or use NFS (alone or with dBase or GO or Extract or the PC menu sytem);
or use anonymous FTP.
4.5 -
In database STF1A and STF1C, Tables P12 and P13 are unavailable.
(lookup@census.gov)
This is a limitation of LOOKUP.
These tables, due to their size, have an irregular structure on the CDs.
This structure is incompatible with DBUTIL, which is used by LOOKUP.
Use NFS (alone or with dBase or GO or Extract or the PC menu sytem);
or use anonymous FTP.
4.6 -
Data for Puerto Rico (PR) are unavailable in LOOKUP, and incorrect in
the U.S. Gazetteer.
The Census questionnaire used in PR was different from
that used in the United States (eg. no race, different marital status, etc.)
Hence the data layout on the PR CD-ROM is non-standard.
The retrieval software has not been modified to accommodate the
PR record format.
To reduce confusion, PR has been removed from the list of states
available in LOOKUP. However, PR "counties" and "places" are still
accessible through the U.S. Gazetteer; STF1A and STF3A data obtained for those
areas will be incorrect.
4.7 -
In CODATA output format, the lengths of the fields FIPS.STATE etc.
are inconsistent with those in SEEDIS. For example, in LOOKUP, FIPS.STATE
contains two characters, right-adjusted in a field of 15 characters. In SEEDIS,
FIPS.STATE is a field of two characters.
(dwmerrill@lbl.gov 5/8/94)
This problem occurs with all versions of LOOKUP.
This is a limitation of LOOKUP that unnecessarily complicates integration
of separate data sets from LOOKUP and SEEDIS.
4.8 - In STF1A or STF3A, selecting "level=state-county" or "level=state-place, an error message should be issued if the user selects more than one state. Instead, the choice is allowed but the counties (or places) from only one state are displayed.
4.9 -
In STF3B, cannot get data for all ZIP codes, or a range of ZIP codes.
(cama@success.net 8/28/95)
This is a limitation of LOOKUP.
Limit your request accordingly.
4.10 - Error is:
CGI Server ERROR:
Sys Err : Not enough memory
Source : dbutil.c:80
Message : ****SMALLOC got NULL from malloc
(ccalhoun@interaccess.com 1/19/96)
This error was encountered on bigsur.lbl.gov while trying to
retrieve all tables of STF3A for all census tracts in Cook County IL.
Limit your request by choosing fewer tables or fewer tracts.
4.11 -
In STF3A, level State--Metropolitan Statistical Area (STMSA91)
gives incomplete data.
For example, STF1C and STF3C-1 give
285 Metropolitan Statistical Areas
(MSA91s) of which 25 are in Texas and 8 are (partly) in Georgia.
STF3A finds only 14 STMSA91s in Texas, where 25 are expected; and only
four in Georgia, where 8 are expected.
The problem is being investigated 3/22/96.
4.12 -
In STF1A, level State--Metropolitan Statistical Area (STMSA91) gives no data.
The presence of this level on the STF1A menu page is an error. There are
no MSA codes in STF1A.
