2.2.2 -
Lynx 2.3.9beta, in combination with LOOKUP 1.0.7f, gives the following
error "access violation; mainloop 13954; main 15711."
This bug affects all three http servers
(cedr, bigsur, census) and all databases and all geographic levels.
Lynx 2.3.9beta has not been tested with LOOKUP 1.1.0b alpha.
(lookup@census.gov)
Use Lynx 2.3-FM or 2.3.7, or another browser.
2.2.3 -
Older versions of Lynx will not work with LOOKUP. The first STF3A
selection menu includes check boxes but no state names.
One sees a column of parentheses stretching off the bottom of
the screen. If one uses the "view source" option, each is
associated with detail (e.g., a state name).
But they do not display.
Other more general choices do work and
the "submit" button appears to work (i.e., if one arbitrarily
selects one of the parens and submit the request, one gets
data for that area).

(rasn@troi.cc.rochester.edu with LOOKUP 1.4 and Lynx 2.3 BETA 7/9/96)
Use Lynx 2.3-FM or 2.3.7, or another browser.
This bug occurs with all versions of LOOKUP.
2.2.4 -
In Lynx 2.3-FM or 2.3.7, data
saved or mailed in "tab-delimited" format are really space-delimited.
(dwmerrill@lbl.gov, 5/7/95)
Before loading into a spreadsheet or database program, fields that include
blanks must be modified. For example, New York must be
changed to "New York" or New_York.
This bug occurs with LOOKUP 1.1.0d.
2.2.5 -
In Lynx 2.3-FM or 2.3.7,
data saved or mailed in "tab-delimited" format may contain
column names
(e.g. P0090001) that are broken at the end of a line.
(dwmerrill@lbl.gov, 5/7/95)
Before loading into a spreadsheet or database program, fields that
are broken at the end of a line must be repaired with a text editor.
If not desired in the spreadsheet, the header line(s)
containing column names may be removed.
This bug occurs with LOOKUP 1.1.0d.
2.2.6 -
With Lynx 2.3-FM or 2.3.7,
in data files saved in CODATA format, the data values of geographic codes
(e.g. FIPS.STATE) are not in the correct column locations.
(dwmerrill@lbl.gov, 5/7/95)
To use with the SEEDIS CODATA tools, repair the CODATA file
with a text editor; or use another WWW browser.
This bug occurs with LOOKUP 1.1.0d.
2.2.7 -
With any version of Lynx the response "socket read failed for 500 tries"
occasionally occurs. This error is non-reproducible and is apparently
related to network congestion.
(dwmerrill@lbl.gov, 6/7/95)
Try again, or come back later, or try an alternate WWW LOOKUP server.
This bug occurs with LOOKUP 1.1.0d.
