2.1.3 - LOOKUP-related bugs with Netscape for X Windows (UNIX)

As of 5/18/96, there are no known LOOKUP bugs specific to current versions of Netscape PROVIDED one uses LOOKUP version 1.4, which is currently installed on www.census.gov and venus.census.gov (only).

If you run into problems with Netscape, please try LOOKUP version 1.4 and report any problems to lookup@census.gov.

2.1.3.1 - With Xwindows Netscape, tabs are not preserved in data files saved in tab-delimited format.

This problem occurs with LOOKUP 1.3.0b.
After "File" and "Save As..." you must click on "Format for Saved Document" and then select "Source". "Text" format will not work for tab-delimited files. (Either format will work for LOOKUP files in HTML or Codata format.)

2.1.3.2 - With XWindows Netscape Navigator, forms output (for example LOOKUP output) cannot be mailed with "Mail Document..." and "Attach..." Instead of the data which is on the screen, the main LOOKUP URL (which appears in the Location window) is mailed instead.
This is a general Netscape problem with forms output with the POST option, not specific to LOOKUP.
This problem occurs in all versions of Netscape (Windows, Mac, and Xwindows, and Windows95.
It affects all three LOOKUP output formats (HTML, tab-delimited, and Codata).
It affects Document Text, Document Source, and Postscript.
Use "Quote document" instead of "Attach..." In XWindows Netscape, documents at least as large as 400K (and perhaps much larger) can be quoted.
