The CD-ROM server misty.lbl.gov is being moved to misty.lib.berkeley.edu.
The CD-ROM server bigsur.lbl.gov is being moved to bigsur.lib.berkeley.edu.
The FTP server cedrcd.lbl.gov (which is really bigsur.lbl.gov) will be moved
to cedrcd.lib.berkeley.edu.
UNIX system managers will need to update their mount tables.
Until relocation and reinstallation are complete, CD's served by misty and
bigsur, and FTP service from cedrcd.lbl.gov, are unavailable.

The 1990 Census PL94-171 CD for FL,KY,MA,NM,TN,UT (disk16) has become
unreadable, since December 1995.

TIGER Landview II files (disk302) and 1994 TIGER files (disk304-5) are no
longer exported from Census Bureau servers, as of 9/1/96.

The CD-ROM server hibana.lbl.gov, with 48 CDs, has been moved to the UC
Berkeley Library and renamed hibana.lib.berkeley.edu. UNIX system managers
need to update their mount tables.
After October 1, 1996, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) will no
longer have responsibility for the University of California (UC) CD-ROM
Information System. This will not seriously affect LOOKUP users, because most
of the LOOKUP data are on disk drives at the Census Bureau. The three LOOKUP
servers that are not at LBNL will be unaffected. Most seriously affected will
be users of the PC menu system, and users who access the CDs directly via FTP or
NFS. Most of those users are on the UC Berkeley campus.
LBNL is grateful to UC DATA and the UC Berkeley Library, who have volunteered
to assume future responsibility for the system. The three CD-ROM servers will
be moved to UC DATA, with their attached CD-ROM drives (48 CDs on hibana,
54 on misty, and 96 on bigsur).
hibana was moved on 9/18/96. misty and bigsur will be moved later in September.
The present Web interface and documentation will be maintained at LBNL until
they become obsolete, at which time they will be removed from public view.
The future configuration of the system is at the discretion of UC DATA and the
UCB Library. Please watch this space for further information, or contact:
