1970 Census of Population: counts 2,4,5,6

In 1975-1980, Bob Healey processed 7-track 800bpi user tapes issued by the Census Bureau, from the 1970 Census of Population, Counts 2,4,5,6. The data were compressed, stored on the IBM chipstore, then transferred to GSS (gettape/stotape system) tapes in the active tape library around 1980.

The GSS tapes were copied to the LBNL mass storage system (MSS) in 1994-5 and stored at Nor-Cal in 1997. The copies on MSS were copied to seedis.census.gov in 1996-7, and deleted in 1998. The original 7-track tapes were transferred to the Federal Records Archive in 1980, and stored at Nor-Cal in 1997.
