Obtaining access to the SEEDIS computer

CAVEAT: Due to budgetary constraints, SEEDIS runs on a small VAX computer seedis.lbl.gov that is extremely slow. SEEDIS is difficult to use, and has had no financial support since 1985. Great patience is required, and there is no promise of assistance.

NOTE: SEEDIS access is reserved for requests which cannot be satifisfied from any of the following:

(1) Federal Depository Libraries
(2) Interuniversity Consortium for Political and Social Research (ICPSR)
(3) commercial sources
(4) printed sources

If you cannot obtain the data elsewhere, study the online documentation carefully. Then send e-mail to dwmerrill@lbl.gov, describing the data you need and the geography of interest (level of detail and scope of coverage). Please include your name, institution, address, fax, phone, and e-mail address. Your message will be answered as soon as possible.

The SEEDIS computer can support only two simultaneous interactive sessions. If your login is refused, try again later or notify dwmerrill@lbl.gov.
