The supported parts of SEEDIS are AREA and DATA, which do not require a graphics terminal.
First use the SHOW command (at the top level of SEEDIS) to see the available databases at each geographic LEVEL (e.g. state, county, etc.). To see the definitions of each LEVEL, type SHOW within the AREA module.
Then use the AREA module to select the geographic area (first the level of detail, and then the scope).
Then use the DATA module to select the desired data. Type SHOW for a list of database codes. Type the database code, which will allow you to view and select the data elements for that database. Repeat for as many databases as you wish. Then type EXTRACT to get the data you need. If the data are not on disk you have the option of requesting that a BATCH job be completed in the background. An overnight wait is usually sufficient.
After extraction is completed, the requested data are in the file codata.dat. Leave SEEDIS and use SNDMSG to mail the file codata.dat to any Internet address, or use FTP or KERMIT to download the file codata.dat to your own computer.
