Your SEEDIS job waits for the system cache job to be completed, and you can wait on line as long as you wish. Barring system problems, your job will eventually finish normally. Once in the temporary disk cache, the necessary data files will remain there for weeks or even months.
If some of the necessary data files must be copied from tape, it is recommended that you interrupt SEEDIS and let your own job complete in the background also. How to put your SEEDIS job in the background is described on line. Your job keeps resubmitting itself at ever-increasing time intervals until the system cache job has been completed.
Until the system cache job has been completed, it is pointless to resubmit the same data extraction request, and it may even delay completion of your job.
System cache problems are usually caused by tape drive problems or defective tapes. If your job has not completed by 9am on the next working day, please send e-mail to FCGey@lbl.gov and DWMerrill@lbl.gov. We will diagnose the problem, make the ncessary repairs, and tell you when you can run your job again.
In restarting your own job after errors, the best plan (unless you are an expert) is to completely empty your subdirectory and start SEEDIS again from scratch. If you request the same data as before, the files from tape will still be available in the disk cache and you won't have to wait overnight again.
