• 1970/80/90 California mapping package from California State Census Data Center (9/23/92). (Req. 424282, 10/1/92; P.O. 89900A6, $900, 10/8/92). Received 10/22/92. 25 MB. Copied to /home/mss/icsd/merrill/calif90 (25MB). Paper documentation (11 pages) filed under "seedis-geog-map files-calif" in Deane Merrill's office. (2/10/93).

1970:

• block: digitized DIME files were made by many but not all municipalities. Check the Census Bureau to see what is available, and from whom.
• block group: MEDX3 (SEEDIS level BGED70) contains lat-long of centroids, and total population.
• tract: Urban Atlas files (in SEEDIS), urban areas only. Also available from National Planning Data Corp (NPDC). TRCENTR (SEEDIS level TRACT) contains areas and centroids.
• MCD: Available from NPDC, rural areas only.

1980:

• block: digitized DIME files were made by many but not all municipalities. Check the Census Bureau to see what is available, and from whom.
• block group: Centroids available from MARF (at LBL and UC DATA) but not installed in SEEDIS.
• tract: (RESTRICTED) SEEDIS level NMCDTR80 (urban areas): NPDC proprietary files in SEEDIS. centroids and areas in database TRACT80.
• MCD: (RESTRICTED) SEEDIS level NMCDTR80 (rural areas): NPDC proprietary files in SEEDIS. centroids and areas in database TRACT80.
• 1980 geographic levels: from 1992 TIGER map files (CIESIN)

1990:

• all: TIGER files on CD-ROM. Complete for US and territories.
• all: thinned boundary files from TIGER
