Small-Area Census Data Resources

1970, 1980 and 1990

paper maps:

Try first UC DATA, then the Govt Information Service (formerly the Documents Library), then the Census Bureau Data User Services Division. For error correction, you will need paper maps regardless of what other resources you discover.

1970:

tract: LBL has tract level maps for most urban areas, corresponding to the Urban Atlas files.

1980:

tract: LBL has 1980 tract level maps but they are too large and heavy for convenient photocopying. You are welcome to study them at LBL.

1990:

tract: Census tract/Block Numbering Area maps can be ordered from the U.S. Bureau of the Census.
