Population of States and Counties of the United States: 1790 to 1990

This is the electronic version of the report, "Population of States and Counties of the United States: 1790 to 1990." The files are in a text only format and can be read by any word processor. There are six separate files that represent the printed publication.

PI.TXT contains the introduction to the publication and details the coverage of each of the following parts.

PII.TXT lists by census year, the total population changes for each state

Part III has been divided into three sections. It contains the population figures for counties plus notes discussing these counts.

PIIIALKS.TXT contains Alabama through Kansas data
PIIIKYOK.TXT contains Kentucky through Oklahoma
PIIIORWY.TXT contains Oregon through Wyoming
PIVFIPS.TXT contains the Federal Information Processing (FIPS) codes for each county that now exists as well as for counties that no longer exist.
