The information recorded includes the 5-digit tape number, the box number dm001-dm159, and any useful information on the physical tape label (tape contents, density, format, etc).
In general, the tape contents can be inferred from the table given above and the the tape name in the inactive tape list. Except as noted in the inactive tape list and the contents of the yellow notebook, the tape density (800/1600/6250bpi) and format (7-track/9-track) are not always known.
