1910 U.S. Census in Shelburne, Franklin County, Massachusetts
The enumerators' tally sheets from the US Census are released to the public 72 years after the Census date. Microfilms are publicly available in Federal Depository Libraries and in Family History Centers of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
The file surname.txt, in tab-delimited format, covers Shelburne Town, Franklin County, Massachusetts, in original order. The file byname.txt contains the same information, sorted by surname. The file contains one record for each surname within each family record. Items labeled ? are doubtful due to illegible handwriting. This file is best viewed with a spreadsheet program such as Microsoft Excel. Each record contains:
seqno = sequential number of first person in this record
image = sequential image number in Shelburne Town; Franklin County; Massachusetts
cenpage = page number written on Census sheet
dwelling = sequential number of dwelling house
family = sequential number of family
head = 1 for head of household, 0 for other members
persons = number of person in this record
surname = surname of all persons in this record
name = first name of first person in this record
sex = m or f
age = age in years

count = no of persons with same surname (if 10 or more) (in byname.txt only)
Many of the households were extended families including grandchildren, aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces, and in-laws. Many households included unrelated boarders, especially males aged 15-25 who worked as laborers.
Principal surnames among the 1498 individuals were: Smith (36); Bardwell (22); Fisk/Fiske and Long (20 each); Ward (17); Barnard and Davis (16 each); Canedy and Perkins (15 each); Allen, Brown, Gould and Truesdell (14 each); Thompson, Davenport, Hawkes/Hawks, Merrill, Peters, Severance, Sommer/Sommers/Sumner, Taylor, Thompson, and Wood (13 each); Mann, Peck, Smead, and Stone (12 each); Halligan, Jones, Koonz, Manning, Mills and Roberts (11 each); Alvord and LaBelle (10 each).
